Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has accepted its defeat in parliamentary elections. Before the publication of the official results of the election to be held in Sri Lanka on Monday, he accepted defeat.
Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, said on Tuesday he hoped that by the final results will be announced.
Rajapakse told Reuters in an interview, said: “The Prime Minister has broken my dream of being. I accept defeat. Despite the fierce competition, we have lost. ”
Rajapaksa said his United People’s Freedom Alliance won only eight districts. The UNP (United National Party government) have won 11 of the two districts. This means that we have lost. We lost the war through the close. ”
Election officials did not announce the results of the three districts where the minority Tamil dominated team. They also failed to achieve a majority in Monday’s election, no action.
